Preliminary Sheridan Board of Education Election Results

Preliminary returns from votes cast yesterday (Tuesday, Nov. 7) indicate Sheridan voters returned two incumbents to the school board and also backed newcomer Daniel Stange, who defeated incumbent Ron Carter.

These results are pending final certification from Arapahoe County election officials. Certification should be final in about a week.

According to the preliminary results, Stange took 55 percent of the vote in District A.

Incumbent Sally Daigle garnered 52 percent of the vote over challenger Karla Cuevas-Flores in District C.

And incumbent Bernadette Saleh drew 52 percent of the vote over challenger Indira Guzman-Sais in District E.

District D’s Karla Najera ran unopposed. She was elected to a two-year term.  Terms for Saleh, Daigle and Stange would be four years.

No candidates emerged for District B, which has remained vacant since 2009.  This means the board will operate, as it has done for years, with four members.

Superintendent Michael Clough said he is working with current board members to postpone the meeting for Tuesday, Nov. 14 to Tuesday, Nov. 21. That will allow time for the final certification from Arapahoe County.

The new board would be sworn-in and officers would be selected on Nov. 21.  “Given the narrow margins in two of these elections, we cannot move forward until the results are confirmed,” said Superintendent Clough.
