Dear Sheridan families, December 4, 2024
I am writing to inform you about an incident that occurred this morning before students arrived on the Sheridan High School campus. Our operations staff discovered evidence of a break-in at the high school. Law enforcement was immediately contacted, and the Sheridan Police Department conducted a thorough sweep of the building to ensure its safety.
The individual responsible for the break-in was arrested, and the building was cleared by law enforcement. As a precautionary measure and to prioritize the safety of our students and staff, we followed established safety protocols, ending the school day early for high school students. A controlled release of these students to their parents/guardians was conducted from FLN middle school. In addition, students and families were informed that school will resume as normal the following day.
We understand that situations like this can be unsettling and potentially disruptive, particularly when details are unclear. We are committed to keeping you informed about incidents within the district to the greatest extent possible, ensuring transparency and minimizing uncertainty.
We are incredibly grateful for the swift response and professionalism of the Sheridan Police Department, as well as the exceptional coordination and cooperation of our staff during this time. We also deeply appreciate the patience and understanding of our families as we prioritized the safety and well-being of everyone involved.

Les estoy escribiendo para informarles de un incidente que ocurrió esta mañana antes de que los estudiantes llegaran al campus de la Sheridan High School. Nuestro personal de operaciones descubrió evidencia de un robo en la escuela. Se contactó de inmediato a las autoridades, y el Departamento de Policía de Sheridan reviso el edificio para garantizar su seguridad.
El individuo responsable del robo fue detenido y el edificio ha sido despejado por las autoridades. Como medida de precaución y para priorizar la seguridad de nuestros estudiantes y personal, seguimos los protocolos de seguridad establecidos, finalizando el día escolar temprano para los estudiantes de la escuela secundaria. Se llevó a cabo una liberación controlada de estos estudiantes a sus padres/tutores desde la escuela Fort Logan Northgate. Además, se informó a los estudiantes y las familias que la escuela se reanudará con normalidad al día siguiente.
Entendemos que situaciones como esta pueden ser inquietantes y potencialmente disruptivas, particularmente cuando los detalles no están claros.
