Board Meeting Recap Tuesday, July 9

The Sheridan Board of Education held a brief public meeting on Tuesday, July 9.  The board also held a closed executive session to review the evaluation and contract for Superintendent Pat Sandos, following his first full year on the job.

During the public portion of the meeting, Superintendent Sandos:

  • Thanked Cyndi Wright, Chief Operations Officer, for her hard work submitting the application for the BEST (Building Excellent Schools Today) grant that will allow for repair and replacement of the roof over SOAR Academy and the Early Childhood Center. The roof has leaked for years. The state is contributing $931,000 to the project.  The grant process “gets more and more competitive every year,” said Sandos. “We are really excited about that work.”
  • Announced that Sheridan School District 2 administrative leaders will participate in the Colorado Association of School Executives conference later this month. “Networking with other school leaders is invaluable,” said Superintendent Sandos. “I think we are better leaders when there is bigger awareness of what’s going on around the state and when we can tap into each other’s expertise.”
  • Shared a proclamation from the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9644 expressing its “sincerest appreciation” to the city and school district for “many courtesies extended” when the VFW held its statewide convention, in Sheridan, in June.
