Dear Sheridan Families,
We want to make you aware of a concerning situation impacting our school community. Reports indicate that flyers are being distributed to families encouraging students not to participate in state testing or to opt out. Please know that this messaging is not coming from the school district.
We want to be clear: this information is misleading and not aligned with the best interests of our students or the Sheridan community. State assessments play an important role in understanding student progress, supporting instruction, and ensuring accountability for high-quality education.
Additionally, the flyer promotes the opportunity for students to receive grades and academic credit through an external group ""The Strike School." This organization is not accredited or licensed through any recognized educational institution. Claims of accreditation are false and represent a serious concern. Credits or grades issued by this group will not be accepted by any licensed or accredited school, and participation could negatively impact your student’s academic progress and path toward graduation.
We strongly urge families to disregard this information and to continue supporting your student’s engagement in their education, including participation in state assessments.
The district is taking this matter seriously and has requested that this group immediately cease and desist from operating or representing itself as a school within our district boundaries.
Please review the letter below for additional details, along with our recent video message from our Superintendent here.
If you have any questions or concerns, we encourage you to contact your school directly.
Thank you for your continued partnership and commitment to the success of all Sheridan students.
