Our Agreement

I am extremely pleased to share that late last night, we reached a tentative agreement with the Sheridan Education Association that ends the strike and returns our schools to full strength and full staffing, beginning Monday, April 27. We are grateful to all involved for the time, effort, and commitment it took to come to a resolution. And we are extremely grateful to our staff, students, families, and community for their support and understanding through these challenging days.

Our highest priority now is clear: ensuring that students and teachers return to the classroom as quickly as possible. Our students thrive in structured, supportive learning environments, and it is essential that we restore consistency and stability across our schools without delay.

This resolution is not about winners or losers. It reflects the reality that there were differences, differences that have real impacts on our students, families, and broader community. What matters most is that we have found a path forward.

Under the terms of the tentative agreement, we have re-recognized the SEA and established a classified union as its own bargaining unit. These steps represent an important foundation for continued collaboration and progress. The SEA membership is expected to vote on and approve the terms of the agreement today, and our Board of Education is scheduled to vote and approve the terms at its meeting on Tuesday.

Now, we turn our focus to healing and rebuilding, together. We are committed to creating a stable, positive environment where every student can thrive and where our staff feel supported in the critical work you do each day.

Thank you for your resilience, your professionalism, and your continued dedication to our students.
