For more than 33 years, Aimee Chapman has been dedicated to helping young children and families thrive, including 18 years with Sheridan School District. Her passion for supporting children led her to early childhood education, where she helps build strong foundations for lifelong learning and success.
Aimee’s favorite part of education is watching children discover something new for the very first time. Whether it is solving a problem, making a connection, or bravely trying something again after a first attempt, she finds endless joy in the excitement and wonder young learners bring to each day. She firmly believes families are a child’s first teachers and loves that early childhood education allows schools and families to work together as partners.
Since joining Sheridan in 2008, Aimee has found a second home in the district’s close-knit and vibrant community. She is inspired by Sheridan’s rich pride, diverse cultures, and deep family connections. One of the most meaningful moments of her career was watching some of the district’s very first preschool students walk across the graduation stage years later, celebrating how far they had come alongside their proud families.
As director, Aimee treasures opportunities to step into classrooms as a guest reader, knowing that a great story can spark imagination, creativity, and curiosity. She also enjoys learning something new every day, whether it is a student’s latest discovery or a success a teacher and instructional team have worked hard to achieve.
Aimee is continually inspired by the natural wonder of children and their determination to learn, grow, and overcome challenges. She is equally inspired by the Early Childhood Center staff, whose optimism, generosity, and commitment to children and families shine through every day.
And when she is not at the Early Childhood Center? You can often find Aimee seeking her next outdoor adventure and sharing the experience with family, friends, and her dog, Fred.
