If you've spent any time at Alice Terry, you've probably seen Dr. Carrie DeWaters cheering on students, celebrating successes, and saying "yes" every time a student shouts, "Watch me!" With 30 years in education and a passion for helping kids discover their potential, Dr. DeWaters believes every child deserves someone who sees what they can become before they see it themselves.
Although she's only been part of Sheridan School District for one year, she's already found what makes the community special: students who are known, valued, and encouraged to grow. She joined Sheridan because she wanted to be part of a school community that believes in every learner, and she considers it a privilege to learn and grow alongside them every day.
What does Dr. DeWaters love most about her job? Watching students grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Whether it's a breakthrough in the classroom, a kind act on the playground, or a student building confidence in themselves, those moments are what make her work so rewarding. And yes, she admits that lunch is a close second, especially when there's excellent ranch dressing on the menu!

She is equally inspired by the incredible Alice Terry staff. From rethinking a lesson after hours to making one more call home or offering a helping hand to a colleague, the staff's dedication often happens behind the scenes, but its impact is felt throughout the school.
And here's a fun fact: education is truly the family business! Her parents, grandparents, aunts, and great-aunts were all educators. When she's not at school, you'll likely find her logging miles on a run while listening to a favorite podcast or audiobook.
