Fort Logan
FLN Band elementary band pigs Spirit week

Dear Fort Logan Northgate Families and Staff,

I am incredibly humbled and excited to be appointed the next principal of FLN. I am passionate about our students and look forward to serving you. I already see FLN and the Sheridan school district as a family that is striving to become a great school and district.  At FLN, you will see high expectations and relentless focus on student achievement, behavior, and community. I have had the opportunity to meet with Dr. Miles and will continue to do so regularly. I feel fortunate to join a school that is in such a good place and primed to keep moving forward.

A snapshot of my personal background includes moving to Colorado in 1979, coming from a war torn country in Central America. I have been drawn to public service since a little boy. After college my heart led me to education. My wife, Jennifer and I have two amazing kids who attend college. I fully understand all of the celebrations and struggles that go along with being a parent.

I am honored to lead FLN through the coming years of opportunities and challenges. Leading in the world of public education has become an increasingly complex and challenging position. I have had many diverse leadership opportunities throughout my tenure in education. My journey started as an elementary school teacher for five years prior to moving into an assistant principal role. As an assistant principal for five years, I was fortunate to learn and lead alongside an incredibly talented principal. From that experience, I gained a principalship at an elementary school in Jeffco Schools. I served as principal for six years and developed systems to improve achievement that led to significant gains in our students’ learning. Simultaneously, we fostered an exceptionally positive school culture and climate built on professionalism and trust. For the last seven years, I have been working as an assistant principal at Wheat Ridge High School. These recent experiences have continued to reinforce that being an elementary and middle school principal is my true calling. It is time to put my energy back where I get it – with kids and teachers.

I look forward to getting to know you, learning about your family and supporting your child’s educational needs. I believe the community has made significant contributions to the success of FLN. Together, we will continue to build off of these successes and evolve to meet the demands that are placed on our school. We will maintain a safe environment in which all students can capitalize on their strengths and become open-minded responsible citizens after they graduate from our school system.

Thank you for welcoming me to the FLN family and I look forward to meeting you soon.
